Nirvana Chocolate Designs

June 18th, 2015

A few months ago I was hired by the lovely people over at Nirvana Chocolate to redesign their main line of 4 chocolate bar wrappers. They were looking for a something Scandinavian-themed (with the exception of the coconut bar) and they wanted animals with personality. I thought it would be fun to post a little timeline of my process since this was a fairly typical job, workflow-wise.

Every project starts with sketches. My lovely clients and I got together and discuss exactly what they were looking for and I made sure I understood the purpose of the redesign, the client’s likes and dislikes, and their expectations. After that, I headed home to start visualizing the ideas. Here’s a small selection of the first batch of sketches…

After this phase, we met again and narrowed it down to one critter for each label. I did more detailed sketches for each label.

With a bit of tweaking things here and there…

we move on to the color phase.

And eventually come out with a product that everyone is happy with!

The best part about this project was the free samples. Every single one is delicious! These chocolates will be available for wholesale through the Nirvana website. I’m not sure exactly when, but I believe they will be in stores for individual sale sometime after that.  Stay Tuned!

Sully the Cat (Portrait)

December 22nd, 2013

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a lovely client on the website CustomMade. She had a cat who had recently passed away and she wanted to memorialize him for her boyfriend. Luckily, I was able to help her realize her vision. Here’s the result!

“Sophy was great to work with — she gave me samples and ideas to choose from which helped guide the process toward the perfect end result. I am thrilled with the finished drawing, and would highly recommend Sophy to others!” -Emily

And here’s a link to my CustomMade profile, where you can request a portrait of your own: http://www.custommade.com/by/sophytuttleart/

Ipad App – Children’s Book

May 22nd, 2012

So I’m currently working with a company called Farfaria that makes children’s book apps for the ipad… how cool is that? If you have an ipad, you should go to their site and download the app to see all the great stories and illustrations they have on there. I’m probably not supposed to say much about it at this point in development, but I can say that I get to draw animals and how can you argue with that? More to come once it’s published…

If you live in Boston and go to cool places, you might start to see a poster I did for the awesome band called Tallahassee. This may also be true if you live in Providence or New York City. Here it is along with the sketch, in case you’re not cool enough to see it in person. I highly recommend checking out their show as well.

Rollstone Studios

September 21st, 2010

I’ve recently joined an artist’s collective/gallery in downtown Fitchburg called Rollstone Studios. It’s a great community with some nice studio spaces still available! The only cost is utilities. You can get to our website is here. We’re still looking for some more artists to join us… if you’re in the area it’s a really incredible deal.

This fall, the artists are offering a few d
ifferent classes. Check out the flyer below to see if anything interests you!

Also, I’ll be doing henna pumpkins on the first Thursday of October, which I believe is the 7th. It will either be at the studio on Main Street, or at the Concert Festival put on by Fitchburg State on the same day. Details to come!

Natick Historical Society Posters

January 18th, 2010

I’m currently working on a set of posters for the Natick Historical Society’s 140th Anniversary. They’re a great organization with a lot of really interesting stuff in their collection. I did a set of posters for them a few months back celebrating the rich sports history over there in Natick, MA and I guess they liked me enough to commission me again!

I’ll post some pictures when I get a chance…

Hey Baltimore! Vote for me in the Baker Artist’s Awards!

October 31st, 2009

This year I’m participating in the Baker Artist Awards. If you don’t know what it is, you can read a little bit about it here. Basically it’s a competition for all kinds of visual, sound, and performance artists in Baltimore City. It’s a way to gain exposure for us and celebrate the rich art scene here in Bmore.

I’ve made a page with all my 2D and 3D work for people to vote on. You only have to vote for an artist, not their individual work. To see my page (and vote for me if you like it), please click here.

Thanks for checking it out!
