Peregrine Falcon at the Mercantile Center
February 24th, 2022

I recently completed this monster mural for the Mercantile Center in Worcester, MA. It was one of my biggest to date and depicted a peregrine falcon, one of my favorite birds. In conjunction with the installation of the mural, the Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife Department installed a falcon nesting box on an adjacent building to ensure that the falcon population will continue to grow in this urban area where they thrive. The goal with my work is to collaborate with scientists, biologists, environmentalists, and people in other professions to make real-world change to help threatened and endangered species. This project was the perfect example of this kind of collaboration.

Biophilia Artist Residency
September 2nd, 2020
Over the last two weeks I got the chance to participate in the Biophilia iteration of the Ayatana Artist Residency in Ottowa (this time it was online of course). It was a really wonderful opportunity to connect with artists from all over the world interested in the environment and making art in collaboration with nature. The pandemic has isolated us all, so this chance to connect was all the more valuable. It reinvigorated my interest in combining my art with issues of environmental justice and opened my eyes to so many more artists working today.
They sent us each a microscope that hooks up to your computer, so we could examine natural objects in greater detail and draw inspiration from natural forms and textures. Here are some of the images I made.

Esplanade Mural
July 30th, 2019
This summer I was asked by the Charles River Esplanade Association to create a mural that would cover an old pumphouse in the park.
The Esplanade is a gathering place for both humans and non-humans alike. It is one of the few places in Boston where so many species share a common space and try to coexist the best we can. We share not only habitat, but experiences, connections, and sometimes a little food. Both of my designs are inspired by this diversity of life within the confines of the city.

Artists & Climate Change
April 28th, 2018
I recently wrote a short essay about why I feel the need to transition from pure freelance illustration to more community-based public arts. It has a lot to do with the responsibility I feel as an artist and a creative to help people understand the implications of climate change and how the world is going to change around us in the future. For this reason, I’m thrilled to say the essay was published on the blog, Artists & Climate Change. Check it out!

South Boston Open Studios is Next Weekend!
May 14th, 2016
Exciting News! South Boston Open Studios is next weekend… May 21-22 from 12-6 each day. I’ll be in the Distillery Building again, hopefully in the same spot as last time. I have prints, cards, and original paintings to sell and it should be a really fun time. There are TONS of artists who show at this Open Studios, so it’s worth coming and spending a few hours wandering the wonderful, art-filled maze that is the Distillery.
Additionally, 555 Gallery across the street will be hosting our auction to benefit the Paraclete Center. I donated a beautifully framed print of Crobraham Lincoln and there are lots of other paintings to bid on. The opening recpetion for this part will be on Friday, May 20, from 7 to 10PM. You can also bid on everything online here.
See you there!
