I’m really excited to be a part of the Revival Gallery One Year Anniversary Show. It’s taking place THIS FRIDAY May 2nd, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm.

The gallery, located in downtown Fitchburg, MA, is a reclaimed space aimed at promoting community art, projects, fairs, and festivals. Please come down and support a really noble cause and help them celebrate their 1 year anniversary!

Sully the Cat (Portrait)

December 22nd, 2013

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by a lovely client on the website CustomMade. She had a cat who had recently passed away and she wanted to memorialize him for her boyfriend. Luckily, I was able to help her realize her vision. Here’s the result!

“Sophy was great to work with — she gave me samples and ideas to choose from which helped guide the process toward the perfect end result. I am thrilled with the finished drawing, and would highly recommend Sophy to others!” -Emily

And here’s a link to my CustomMade profile, where you can request a portrait of your own: http://www.custommade.com/by/sophytuttleart/

Foxed

August 9th, 2013

I just got back from my artist’s residency in Oaxaca, Mexico, which is why there’s been such a gap in my posts. More on that later. For now, here’s a quick little fox drawing I did for ANE Whole Terrain.

Progress Shots of Dog Portrait

April 8th, 2013

I recently completed a dog portrait for a friend of her little pup, Charlie. I took photos while I was working on it so I could show it coming together. I love seeing this when other artists do it, so I thought I would share my own… I used Arches watercolor paper for this, as well as some good old Micron and prismacolor pens.

RAW: Generation Show in Boston

January 26th, 2013

I’ve been selected to participate in a Boston Artist’s Showcase called RAW and it would be pretty cool if you came.

There will be painters, photographers, musicians, and performance art. It sounds like it’s going to be really interesting.

Here are the details:

Where: Rumor, 100 Warrenton St, Boston, MA 02116
When: Sunday, March 24th from 7pm to 11pm

It’s $10 a ticket ahead of time. They would like me to sell 20 tickets before the event, so if you’re going to buy a ticket, please go through this link:

http://www.rawartists.org/sophytuttle

Click “Buy tickets for this artist”, so it counts toward my goal.

Thanks so much and I hope to see you all there!

Ipad App – Children’s Book

May 22nd, 2012

So I’m currently working with a company called Farfaria that makes children’s book apps for the ipad… how cool is that? If you have an ipad, you should go to their site and download the app to see all the great stories and illustrations they have on there. I’m probably not supposed to say much about it at this point in development, but I can say that I get to draw animals and how can you argue with that? More to come once it’s published…

If you live in Boston and go to cool places, you might start to see a poster I did for the awesome band called Tallahassee. This may also be true if you live in Providence or New York City. Here it is along with the sketch, in case you’re not cool enough to see it in person. I highly recommend checking out their show as well.

Catfish

August 28th, 2011

I finally finished the line drawing for the upcoming issue of ANE’s Whole Terrain magazine. Now I’m starting to add color to some of my favorites. Here’s a catfish that accompanies a poem called Currents. Prints available on my Etsy store!

Animal Skulls

November 28th, 2010

Something I did on Thanksgiving. I love drawing bones and skulls, so it was a lot of fun to do. I’m still experimenting with color and finding things that work and things that don’t.
