A few months ago I was hired by the lovely people over at Nirvana Chocolate to redesign their main line of 4 chocolate bar wrappers. They were looking for a something Scandinavian-themed (with the exception of the coconut bar) and they wanted animals with personality. I thought it would be fun to post a little timeline of my process since this was a fairly typical job, workflow-wise.

Every project starts with sketches. My lovely clients and I got together and discuss exactly what they were looking for and I made sure I understood the purpose of the redesign, the client's likes and dislikes, and their expectations. After that, I headed home to start visualizing the ideas. Here's a small selection of the first batch of sketches...

After this phase, we met again and narrowed it down to one critter for each label. I did more detailed sketches for each label.

With a bit of tweaking things here and there...

we move on to the color phase.

And eventually come out with a product that everyone is happy with!

The best part about this project was the free samples. Every single one is delicious! These chocolates will be available for wholesale through the Nirvana website. I'm not sure exactly when, but I believe they will be in stores for individual sale sometime after that.  Stay Tuned!
